RAINBOW HOUSE GLBT COMMUNITY CENTER

"A place WE call home"
Mission statement:
Is a safe space that can be used for the GLBT for meeting or functions space, or to become educated on GLBT history and social activates.
Rainbow House is there for the community to use for any GLBT meetings or social activities. The space inside the house is smoke free. We are a safe space to be you, to express yourself without judgment. We in the GLBT Community need to support one another to grow as a family and that’s why the slogan of the Rainbow House is “A Place We Call Home”.
The space is a former home that we have converted into different sections to meet the needs of the community.
-
Red is represented in our kitchen space that is very large and is the heart of the house to make meals for cookouts and gathers.
-
Orange is represented in the conference room that will fit about 12 people comfortable for a general meeting.
-
Yellow is represented by our beach themed room dedicated to Roverta Boen, aka Bo of Bo's Coral Reef, who gave to the GLBT Community from the 1960's to 2010, for her hard work and dedication.
-
Green is represented in our media / speaking room that will hold 25 people. To be used for anything from HIV/AIDS education, to showing of films about GLBT history.
-
Blue is represented by the Johnny Cole PFLAG library. This room holds over 100 books currently from GLBT to just basic reads that can be checked out at any time or enjoy readying in a nice comfortable chair in the library.
-
Purple is represented in our main living room space that will be used kind of like a coffee house space with comfortable couches and chairs with side table. Purple will not be a high light like in the other rooms just in the accents and in the rainbow flag over the fire place.
With great honor the members of Rainbow House has dedicated it in the name of Frieda Saraga that is like a mother to the GLBT COMMUNITY. Forming PFLAG in 1991 in support of three of her children then Positive Attitudes to give back to ones effected by HIV/AIDS. Frieda goes out of her way to help any way she can from JASYMN to now Rainbow House. It is out of great respect of this great woman we dedicated this house to her living spirit that only if each one of had an ounce of her spirit this world and Jacksonville would be a better place.
